FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know about Elgarde, our compliance audits, and how we handle your data.

Is the free audit really free?

Yes. No registration, no credit card, no upsell trap. Enter a domain, get a compliance grade and a summary of violations. The free audit is our way of proving the platform's value.

Which regulations do you cover?

ePrivacy Directive (cookie consent), European Accessibility Act (EAA), GDPR, and WCAG 2.1 AA. Each report cites the specific statutes that apply in your jurisdiction.

Which countries do you support?

Netherlands, Portugal, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Ireland โ€” with jurisdiction-specific statute citations in every report. We're expanding to cover more markets and jurisdictions.

How does the audit work?

Elgarde loads your website in a real browser, just like a visitor. It rejects cookie consent, then checks which trackers fire before consent and after rejection. It also injects axe-core to test WCAG 2.1 accessibility. The whole process takes 30โ€“60 seconds.

Can I use the report as legal evidence?

Full reports include HAR network captures, annotated screenshots, timestamps, and precise statute citations โ€” designed to be used by legal counsel for audit preparation, regulatory correspondence, or defense against complaints.

What's the difference between the free audit and the full report?

The free audit shows your compliance grade (Aโ€“F), violation counts, and the top 3 issues. The full report โ€” free for registered users โ€” includes every violation in detail, affected elements, code-level remediation steps, legal citations, HAR captures, screenshots, and a downloadable PDF.

How often should I run a new audit?

Any website change โ€” a CMP update, a new analytics script, a redesign โ€” can introduce compliance violations. We recommend auditing after every deploy. Our monitoring plans automate this with continuous checks and instant alerts.

Do you store my audit data?

Audit results are retained for 90 days, then deleted. IP addresses used for rate limiting are anonymized after 30 days. We never share or sell data. See our privacy policy for full details.

What if I need help fixing the issues?

Every full report includes step-by-step remediation instructions your developer can follow. Monitoring plan subscribers get continuous protection with instant alerts.

Is Elgarde GDPR-compliant itself?

Yes. We practice what we preach. Elgarde is hosted in the EU (Hetzner, Germany), collects minimal data, and we regularly audit our own website with our own platform. Our privacy posture is part of our product credibility.
